Welcome. Find a comfortable seat or lie down and start by noticing what is beneath you—chair, floor, or bed. Rock your pelvis side-to-side and sense whether there’s more connection to the ground.

Gently look around the room, turning your head. Name three shapes you see.

Orient toward the ground: touch the floor with your hands, or if you’re lying down, with your feet. Feel the density that holds you. On your next exhale imagine letting your weight be received.

Place one palm on your breastbone, the other on the back between your shoulder-blades. Notice the contact—fabric or skin. Feel the rise and fall of your breath. Notice pace, depth, temperature, maybe even your heartbeat.

From this grounded connection, invite your birth experience into the field. You might name your child aloud or silently—“the birth of ___.” Pause. Feel if anything shifts: sensation, emotion, breath, or perhaps nothing at all.

Choose a body part you associate with birth—lower belly, C-section scar, pelvic bowl, lower back. Rest a hand there. Notice skin or fabric, bone or soft tissue, warmth or coolness.

Stay curious. What sensation is here now? Tingling, numbness, heaviness, lightness—just information, no fixing.

If intensity rises—or if you feel nothing—keep one hand on that spot and place the other on a comforting area: heart, thigh, or forehead. Sense the contrast between listening hand and soothing hand. Breathe naturally, moving awareness as you need.

Completion: Bring both hands to heart or belly and whisper, “I’m here. This is my body. This is now.” Inhale … exhale.

Gently blink your eyes open. Stretch, wiggle toes, rock your pelvis. Look around: name one colour, one shape, one sound.

Softly say, “Thank you, my body, for telling me your story.”

This is 7 min guided somatic practice to connect with your birth through self-touch and awareness.
